In line with the Election Commission of India’s schedule, the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Manipur, Pradeep Kumar Jha, officially released the Draft Photo Electoral Rolls for all 60 Assembly Constituencies in Manipur on Tuesday. The announcement was made during a press meet held at the CEO’s conference hall in Lamphelpat, Imphal.

According to CEO Jha, the gender ratio in the draft electoral rolls for 2025 stands at 1069, a slight increase from the 1068 recorded in the final electoral rolls published on January 22, 2024. The elector-population ratio has been recorded at 54.84%, compared to 55.54% in the previous rolls. The total number of electors now stands at 20,34,660, reflecting a net increase of 8,037 from the final 2024 rolls, which recorded 20,26,623 electors. The number of polling stations across the state remains unchanged at 2,955.

The special summary revision process, effective from October 29, 2024, coincides with the publication of the Draft Electoral Roll, with January 1, 2025, set as the qualifying date for eligibility. Jha outlined the revision timeline: claims and objections will be accepted from October 29 to November 28, with special campaign days on November 9-10 and November 23-24. Claims and objections are scheduled for resolution by December 24, and the final electoral roll will be published on January 6, 2025.

During the revision period, eligible citizens can enroll, delete, make corrections, or request shifts on the electoral roll. Applications can be submitted physically to the Electoral Registration Officers, Assistant Electoral Registration Officers, and Booth Level Officers, or online via the Election Commission’s portal at https://voters.eci.gov.in and the Voter Helpline Mobile App.

CEO Jha encouraged youth turning 18 by January 1, 2025, as well as those becoming eligible in subsequent quarters (April 1, July 1, and October 1, 2025), to apply in advance using Form-6 from October 29, 2024. Applications for later quarters will be processed during the first month of each relevant quarter, ensuring continuous updates to the electoral roll.

Ahead of the press meet, Jha convened a meeting with representatives from various political parties to discuss the Special Summary Revision 2025. In addition, a voter awareness campaign under the Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) initiative, themed ‘Eikhoi Voter Challasi,’ was launched to encourage enrollment and voter inclusiveness. Mobile outreach vans were flagged off to promote voter awareness across the state, accompanied by a radio jingle and a street play emphasizing electoral inclusion.

CEO Jha urged all eligible citizens to actively participate in the electoral process and ensure their names are on the electoral rolls during this special revision.
