Manipur Police have arrested Khullem Sanjeep, also known as Bhim, a 30-year-old member of the Arambai Tenggol (AT) group, in connection with a recent assault case. Sanjeep, the son of the late Kh. Tomba from Naoremthong DC Road, was taken into custody following investigations into an October 31, 2024 incident in which two individuals from Senapati were attacked in Lamsang during the early hours. The suspect has been remanded to police custody for further questioning as authorities work to uncover additional details related to the assault.
The arrest comes amid broader security concerns in the region. In response, security forces have launched extensive search and area domination operations across both the hill and valley districts. These efforts are aimed at reinforcing safety and curbing potential unrest, particularly in areas experiencing inter-community tensions.
Additionally, to safeguard the transportation of essential goods, authorities have strengthened security along National Highway-2 (NH-2), a critical supply route for the state. On November 4, a convoy of 48 vehicles carrying essential items was successfully escorted under heavy security, particularly at vulnerable points along the highway. These measures are part of heightened protective protocols designed to ensure the safe passage of vehicles and their occupants, maintaining stability in the region during this challenging period.
