Eight-year-old Goyir Riba from Arunachal Pradesh made India proud by winning a gold medal in the Poomsae event at the 10th Tirak International Taekwondo Tournament in Bangkok. Competing in the sub-junior category for athletes below eight years, Goyir outshone opponents from Thailand and Malaysia to claim the top spot.
Goyir’s achievement is also a reflection of the growing taekwondo talent in Arunachal Pradesh. The state has produced notable players like Rupa Bayor, who won India’s first Asian medal in Individual Recognized Poomsae Senior-1 event in Vietnam.
