Four individuals were arrested late Tuesday in Assam’s Darrang district on suspicion of attempting to poach a rhino in Orang National Park. The suspects were apprehended by police in coordination with forest officials.
During the arrest, authorities seized a .303 rifle with ammunition, three mobile phones, five motorcycles, and camping equipment. The arrested men were reportedly preparing to hunt rhinos when they were caught.
Assam’s Director General of Police, G.P. Singh, confirmed the arrests and stressed the state’s ongoing efforts to combat wildlife crime and protect endangered species.
