Manipur Police Arrest Two For Spreading Fake News On Social Media

Manipur Police have arrested two individuals for disseminating fake news following a viral video showing an alleged assault and the snatching of 500 chicks at Phubala. The video, which depicted individuals dressed in black, sparked significant concern online. However, after an investigation, authorities confirmed that the incident was fabricated.

According to the police, Iphamayum Ramijuddin (30) from Kwakta, Ward No. 8, Bishnupur district, admitted to creating the false story, while Heibokmayum Thoiba (29), also from Kwakta Ward No. 8, recorded and uploaded the video. Both individuals have been taken into custody and face legal action, as stated by the Manipur Police.

In a separate case, security forces conducted search operations in the fringe and vulnerable areas of hill and valley districts to ensure safety and stability. During a search operation at Samukom in Tengnoupal District, authorities recovered a cache of weapons, including two pistols, two Pompi guns, a small Pompi, eight 7.62 mm live rounds, two pistol rounds, nine IEDs, eight HE Pompi grenades, two explosive material cakes, and eight hand grenades.
