Mega Arm Wrestling Event ‘Mizoram Mega Matches’ To Be Held In December In Aizawl

Aizawl, Nov 8: The Pro Panja League has announced that Aizawl will host the prestigious “Mizoram Mega Matches” armwrestling event in December 2024. The competition will feature top armwrestlers from across India and abroad, with Mizo armwrestling star Denic Lalruattluanga Vangchhia headlining the event.

Denic, who recently won a gold medal at the Asian Armwrestling Cup and earned the title of Indian Player of the Tournament, will face an international opponent in one of the event’s most anticipated matches. His victory at the Asian Armwrestling Cup helped India secure second place overall, and he was awarded a cash prize of Rs 35,000.

The announcement of the event took place in the presence of Mizoram’s Sports Minister, Lalnghinglova Hmar, who expressed pride in hosting the international competition. “This event will not only showcase the talent of Mizo armwrestlers but also inspire future generations of athletes,” said Hmar.

Parvin Dabas, founder of the Pro Panja League, thanked the Mizoram government for its support and underscored the significance of the event. “This will be one of the biggest sporting events Mizoram has ever hosted, and we are committed to ensuring its success,” Dabas stated.

Preeti Jhangiani, President of the People’s Armwrestling Federation of India (PAFI), also praised the collaboration with the Mizoram Armwrestling Association and expressed confidence in the event’s success.

The Mizoram Mega Matches are expected to draw large crowds and further elevate the profile of armwrestling in India, with the northeastern state of Mizoram taking center stage in this international sporting spectacle.
