Manipur: Two Tangkhul Injured In Gunfire By Suspected Kuki Militants Near Yaingangpokpi, Imphal East

Two Tangkhul Naga individuals were injured in a gunfire incident on Monday morning when suspected Kuki militants reportedly opened fire around 9:20 a.m. as they were harvesting paddy near Yaingangpokpi in Imphal East.

They individuals received treatment for their injuries at the Yaingangpokpi Primary Health Center (PHC). Authorities are currently searching for three others who were working with them in the field and whose whereabouts remain unknown.

On Sunday, a soldier from the 4th Mahar Regiment was injured while responding to an attack by suspected Kuki militants targeting farmers in Sanasabi, a Meitei-inhabited area also in Imphal East. They had also launched an attack on farmers working in the fields of Sanasabi Loukol and Thamnapokpi villages near Yaingangpokpi. The Imphal East district police, with support from the 4th Mahar Regiment and the 119th Battalion of the Border Security Force (BSF), engaged in a 40-minute gunfight to repel the assailants.
