Thirteen organizations, including the International Peace and Social Advancement (IPSA), Peoples’ Action for National Democratic Movement (PAMDM), and Kangleipak Lamjing Apunba Meira Paibi Lup (Kanglamei), have enforced a 24-hour statewide shutdown in Manipur, severely affecting normal life. Apart from a few private vehicles on the road, inter-district and public transport services remained suspended.
The shutdown, which began at 6:00 pm on November 12 and will continue until 6:00 pm on November 13, was announced at a press meet at IPSA’s office in Keishampat. The participating organizations also include the All Club Organisation Association & Meira Paibi Lup (ACOAM-Lup), Kangleipak Students’ Association (KSA), Indigenous People’s Association of Kangleipak (IPAK), Chanura Lamchinglel KangJeipak (CLK), Kanglei Ima Lup (KIL), Loumee Yaipha Lup, Kangleipak (LOYALUP), Educational and Rural Development Organisation (ERDO), Malem Ima Kanba Lup (MIKL), Struggling Women’s Association (SWA), and Apunba Keithel Sinnaibi Lup (AKSIL).
Businesses, educational institutions, and public transport services have largely shut down in response, impacting daily activities across the region. The organizations stated that the shutdown is intended to address pressing local issues and demand government attention on matters affecting the community.
