Meitei women leaders in Delhi have demanded the immediate release of six individuals, including women and children, who were recently abducted from Jiribam in Manipur. The women’s wing of the Delhi Meitei Coordinating Committee issued a statement on Thursday, urging the central government to take swift action to secure their safe return.
The leaders expressed serious concerns that any harm to the abducted victims would be viewed as tacit approval by the authorities, potentially escalating public mistrust. They warned that such incidents could worsen ethnic tensions in the region and strengthen perceptions of government complicity in the ongoing violence.
The appeal highlights growing fears over the rising ethnic conflict in Manipur and the urgent need for government intervention to ensure the safety of vulnerable communities.
