Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the first-ever Bodoland Mahotsav on Friday evening at the KD Jadhav Wrestling Stadium in New Delhi. The two-day cultural festival will celebrate the vibrant traditions of the Bodo community and spotlight the region’s journey of peace and progress since the signing of the 2020 Bodo Peace Accord.

Organized by the All-Bodo Students’ Union (ABSU), Bodo Sahitya Sabha (BSS), Dularai Bodo Harimu Afad, and Gandhi Hindustani Sahitya Sabha (GHSS), the event will feature traditional Bodo dance performances like “Bagurumba” and “Rwnswndri.” PM Modi will also pay tribute to Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma, a key figure in the Bodo movement, and launch the Bodoland Jaiklong souvenir.

The festival’s theme, “Peace and Harmony for a Prosperous Bharat,” highlights the cultural richness of Bodoland and its role in India’s national heritage. Over 5,000 attendees, including participants from across India and neighboring countries like Nepal and Bhutan, are expected to join the celebrations.

The Bodoland Mahotsav will coincide with the 73rd Foundation Day of the Bodo Sahitya Sabha, featuring discussions on the Bodo language, literature, and the National Education Policy 2020. The event will conclude on Saturday with a cultural gala inaugurated by Union Minister for Tribal Affairs, Jual Oram.
