Our People Should Feel Proud Of Culture & Language: Meghalaya CM

Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma urged the people of the state to take pride in their culture and language during his address at the third edition of the Tri Hills Ensemble. The event, which celebrated the arts, crafts, and traditions of the Khasi, Jaiñtia, and Garo tribes, also marked Jan Jatiya Gaurav Diwas.

Sangma emphasized that cultural pride is essential in today’s world, not only as a way to preserve one’s heritage but also as a means to connect people to their roots. “Our culture and language define us, and we must celebrate them with pride,” he stated.

The Chief Minister reiterated the importance of fostering cultural awareness among the younger generation and highlighted the government’s initiatives aimed at promoting local arts, music, literature, and traditional wisdom. He also underscored the role of language in maintaining a community’s identity and urged the people of Meghalaya to cherish and pass on their linguistic heritage.

Sangma concluded by stressing that a strong cultural identity would not only strengthen the state’s sense of unity but also contribute to its development and growth.
