Imphal, Nov 26: An Amur falcon, radio-tagged by scientists from the Wildlife Institute of India (WII) in Manipur’s Tamenglong district, has reached Kenya after migrating across Somalia. The bird, named ‘Chiuluan 2’, is now heading towards Tsavo East National Park in Kenya.
Dr. Suresh Kumar, a scientist with WII, confirmed the bird’s arrival in Kenya, marking a key milestone in tracking its migration from Siberia.
The falcon, along with another bird, had arrived in Manipur from Siberia on October 12. The birds were captured by the Tamenglong Forest Division team and local volunteers under Dr. Kumar’s supervision at the Chiuluan roosting site.
