Disturbing revelations have emerged from the autopsy reports of six members of a Meitei family whose bodies were recovered from the Barak River in Manipur’s Jiribam district on November 17. The findings expose brutal injuries, multiple gunshot wounds, and evidence of severe trauma, with allegations pointing to their abduction and murder by Kuki-Zo militants.
The post-mortem examinations, conducted at Silchar Medical College and Hospital (SMCH) in Assam’s Cachar district, highlighted the horrific nature of the killings. Among the victims was a 10-month-old infant, Laishram Lamnganba, who suffered a gunshot wound to the left knee. Both of his eyeballs were missing, and his body bore multiple lacerations, blunt force injuries to the jaw and head, and fractured bones. Officials estimated his death to have occurred three to five days before the body was discovered in a decomposed state, dressed in a T-shirt and vest.
Another victim, 31-year-old Telem Thoibi, endured three gunshot wounds to the chest and one to the abdomen. Her skull was crushed with a blunt object, leading to severe fractures and the absence of cranial membranes. Her eyes were forcibly removed, and her forearms were severely damaged by blunt trauma.
Thoibi’s eight-year-old daughter, Telen Thajanganbi Devi, was also among the victims. She died from a gunshot wound and sustained severe abdominal injuries.
