Security forces conducted extensive search and area domination operations across vulnerable regions in both the hill and valley districts of Manipur, the state police confirmed on Thursday.
In a post shared on X, Manipur Police stated, “Search operations and area domination were conducted by security forces in the fringe and vulnerable areas of hill and valley districts.” The operations were aimed at ensuring public safety and maintaining law and order in sensitive areas.
To secure the movement of essential goods, police facilitated the passage of 262 and 336 vehicles along National Highways 37 and 2, respectively. “Strict security measures are taken up in all vulnerable locations, and security convoy is provided in sensitive stretches to ensure free and safe movement of the vehicles,” the post read.
As part of their efforts, 94 security checkpoints were installed across various districts, bolstering surveillance and preventing potential threats. “A total of 94 Nakas/Checkpoints were installed in different districts of Manipur, both in the hill and the valley, and no one was detained by police in connection with violations,” the statement added.
Meanwhile, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has intensified its efforts to investigate recent violence in the state. Following orders from the Ministry of Home Affairs, the NIA has taken over three major cases, including an incident in Jiribam, and launched comprehensive investigations.
“Acting swiftly on the Union Ministry of Home Affairs’ directions to bring the culprits to book expeditiously, the NIA has launched thorough investigations into three major cases relating to the recent spate of violence in Manipur,” the agency said in a statement on Tuesday.
