Imphal, Nov 28: The Manipur government has extended the suspension of mobile internet services for another two days, effective until November 29. The restriction applies to nine districts: Imphal West, Imphal East, Kakching, Bishnupur, Thoubal, Churachandpur, Kangpokpi, Pherzawl, and Jiribam.

The order, issued by the state’s home department on Wednesday, cites ongoing concerns over law and order in the region. The suspension includes mobile internet, mobile data services, VSATs, and VPNs. Authorities stated that the measure aims to prevent the spread of content that could exacerbate the current unrest.

The mobile internet shutdown was first imposed on November 16 following a rise in violence. Initially planned for two days, the suspension has been extended multiple times as tensions persist in the state.
