Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma stated that Assam is on track to catch up with the national conviction rate, aiming to align with the national average of over 50 percent in the next two to three years.
Speaking at the inauguration of the Sub-divisional Judicial Magistrate (M) court building in Lakhipur, Cachar district, Sarma revealed that the state’s conviction rate has risen from a mere 5 percent to 23 percent since he took charge as home minister. He expressed confidence that Assam will soon reach 30 percent, with further efforts in place to improve the state’s judicial system.
