Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma met Union External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar in New Delhi on Monday, seeking cooperation for the upcoming Assam Infrastructure and Investment Summit. The event, scheduled for February 24-25, 2025, in Guwahati, aims to boost investment and infrastructure development in the state.
During the meeting at Jawaharlal Nehru Bhawan, CM Sarma invited Jaishankar to attend the summit and requested support from the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) for its successful organization. Sarma shared the details of the meeting on social media, stating, “I had the pleasure to call upon Hon’ble Union External Affairs Minister Shri @DrSJaishankar ji today in New Delhi and extend an invitation to attend the Assam Infrastructure and Investment Summit 2025.”
Earlier, CM Sarma also met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi, inviting him to attend the summit. The Prime Minister accepted the invitation, and Sarma shared, “I had the privilege to receive Adarniya Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi Ji’s guidance on various developmental issues. On behalf of the people of Assam, I also invited him to bless the Assam Investor & Infrastructure Summit and Mega Jhumur Performance in February 2025.”
The summit, titled “Advantage Assam 2.0,” will highlight Assam’s cultural heritage, including a special performance of the traditional Jhumur dance, with over 7,500 dancers from the state’s 800+ tea gardens. Preparations for the cultural event are already underway.
The two-day summit will attract investors from across India and internationally, positioning Assam as a prime destination for investment and infrastructure growth.
