The Manipur Police apprehended four individuals, including a juvenile, from Kshetrigao Sabal Leikai, Imphal East District on Sunday. A statement by Manipur Police said the accused identified as members of the Arambai Tenggol were reportedly loitering in the area with the intent to commit prejudicial activities, including extortion of money from the general public and government officials.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Ningombam Lemba Singh (25), Mangshatabam Poireinganba Meitei (21), and Laishram Bidyas Singh (21). The fourth individual, a juvenile, has been apprehended and is being dealt with as per the provisions of the Juvenile Justice Act.

During the operation, the police recovered a cache of weapons and other items, including one Ghatak rifle along with a magazine and five live rounds, one country-made .32 pistol with a magazine and a four-wheeler vehicle used by the accused. The suspects are also accused of threatening the general public in the area, raising concerns about the security of residents.

In a separate operation, Security forces in Manipur intensified their operations with significant recoveries of arms and ammunition in separate incidents in Churachandpur and Kangpokpi districts. In Phaikhothang Village, Churachandpur District, search operations led to the recovery of one SLR rifle with one magazine, one 9mm pistol, one 12-bore single-barrel gun, fifteen live rounds of ammunition, one tracer round, two tear smoke shells (CS) and four rubber bullets.

Meanwhile, in Loibol Khunou, Kangpokpi District, the items which were seized include one sniper rifle, one modified Lathode gun, two 9mm pistols with two magazines, one single-barrel breech-loading (SBBL) gun, seven live rounds of ammunition, one fired Lathode case, one cartridge (38mm anti-riot) with rubber bullet, three normal tear smoke shells, two stun grenades and one Baofeng wireless set.
