Guwahati, Dec 5: The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has launched a new rail coach restaurant at the Uzan Bazar riverfront in Guwahati, offering a unique dining experience for locals, tourists, and railway passengers. The innovative project repurposes retired train coaches into aesthetically designed restaurants, reflecting the region’s cultural heritage and providing a nostalgic railway-themed dining atmosphere.
The restaurant offers a variety of meals, snacks, and beverages, catering to quick and satisfying meal options. In addition to enhancing the local culinary scene, the initiative aims to generate sustainable revenue for the railways and create employment opportunities for both skilled and unskilled workers.
This launch is part of NFR’s broader vision to establish similar dining experiences across the Northeast, with 17 such rail coach restaurants already in operation at major railway stations and key locations in the region.
