In a major crackdown on narcotics, a joint team of Border Security Force (BSF), Tripura Police, and Forest Department officials destroyed around 75,000 ganja saplings on December 4, 2024. The saplings were found in a dense forest area near Nauramura village in Sonamura, Tripura.
The operation was part of a special anti-narcotics drive aimed at eliminating illegal cannabis cultivation in the state. The team successfully uprooted and destroyed the mature plants, marking a significant step in the ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking and illicit cultivation in Tripura.
