Chief Minister N. Biren Singh on Monday attended a commemorative event marking five years since the implementation of the Inner Line Permit (ILP) system in Manipur. The function, held at the City Convention Centre in Imphal, saw the participation of ministers, MLAs, and senior officials, showcasing the state’s progress through this landmark initiative.
CM N. Biren Singh highlighted the ILP’s role in preserving the cultural and demographic identity of Manipur. “With immense pride, we come together today to celebrate five years of the successful implementation of the Inner Line Permit (ILP) system in Manipur,” he said, describing the achievement as the result of years of unity and determination by the people of the state.
The Chief Minister expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah for their pivotal roles in realizing the ILP. “The ILP is a victory for all of us, and it stands as the strongest step taken to preserve our identity, culture, and resources,” he remarked.
As part of the event, CM Biren Singh inaugurated the Inner Line Permit Facilitation Centre in Jiribam district, aiming to streamline administrative processes and enhance accessibility for residents.
The celebration also featured an interactive session with beneficiaries of the Chief Minister’s Economic Support Scheme (CMESS) – Special Package to Startups and Entrepreneurs under the Manipur Startup Scheme 2.0. The session aimed to promote employment generation and foster innovation among local entrepreneurs, underscoring the state government’s focus on holistic development and empowerment.
