Aizawl, Dec 10: Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma stated on Monday that the state government is taking proactive steps to strengthen its police force by filling vacant positions. He emphasized that the government is prioritizing the welfare of police personnel, including raising the rifle allowance and releasing long-delayed transfer allowances.

In his speech at the inauguration of the five-day Mizoram Police sports meet, the CM acknowledged the manpower shortage in the police department and assured that efforts are underway to address this by filling the vacant posts. Lalduhoma also mentioned that the government is reviewing employee performance in various departments, forming committees to identify non-performing staff. Those deemed unfit may be offered voluntary retirement to improve productivity.

The Chief Minister urged the police force to maintain high standards in their duties and focus on their health. The Mizoram Police sports meet, held annually since 1987, will feature around 1,200 police personnel competing in 18 different sports disciplines, with the event concluding on December 13.
