Manipur Police And Forest Department Destroy 55 Acres Of Poppy Plantation In Ukhrul

In a coordinated operation, the Manipur Police and Forest Department conducted a poppy destruction drive in the hill range of Sihai Khullen village, Ukhrul district on Monday. Approximately 55 acres of poppy plantation were destroyed during the operation, and five huts found within the poppy fields were burned down, according to a statement from the Manipur Police Control Room.

Authorities have registered an FIR and are actively working to identify those responsible for cultivating the illegal plantations. The operation is part of the state government’s ongoing efforts to combat illicit drug production and preserve the environment.

Law enforcement agencies have reiterated their commitment to taking stringent action against such illegal activities in the state.
