Imphal, Dec 11: Authorities in Manipur have destroyed 45 acres of illegal poppy cultivation in Ukhrul district and arrested two individuals in connection with the illicit activity.

The operation, which took place on Tuesday, was conducted by a joint team comprising Ukhrul police, the Border Security Force (BSF), the forest department, and the district administration in the Mapithel hill range.

Two suspects, identified as Letkhohao Haokip (37) and Hegou Khongsai (30), were arrested at the scene for their involvement in the illegal cultivation. The authorities have vowed to continue their efforts to combat drug production in the region.
