50 Acres Of Poppy Fields Destroyed In Major Anti-Drug Operation In Manipur’s Khamasom Hill Ranges

Imphal, Dec 14: In a major crackdown against illegal drug cultivation, a joint team comprising Ukhrul police, 6th Manipur Rifles, Forest Department, 18 Assam Rifles, and the district administration has successfully destroyed 50 acres of poppy fields in the Khamasom Hill Ranges. This operation is part of the ongoing efforts to eliminate drug farming in the region.

With this latest operation, a total of 160 acres of poppy fields have been cleared in recent days. Nine huts located on the fields were also set ablaze. An FIR has been filed, and investigations are currently underway.

The operation underscores the state’s determination to eradicate drug cultivation and foster a drug-free environment for the people of Manipur.
