Shillong, Dec 18: The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Shillong, through its Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Centre for Policy Research and Analysis, has launched a five-day Management Development Program (MDP) for mid-level government officers from Arunachal Pradesh. The program, which began on December 16 and will run until December 20, 2024, is aimed at enhancing the administrative skills of 30 officers with over a decade of experience, focusing on improving governance and public service delivery.
The inaugural session featured Sanjeev Ningombam, Head of the Centre, who outlined the program’s emphasis on innovation, efficiency, and better administrative practices. D P Goyal, Director of IIM Shillong, also addressed the participants, stressing the important role of administrative officers in fostering effective governance. He encouraged the officers to embrace values of integrity, adaptability, and a people-centric approach in their work.
The MDP will cover key topics such as leadership, team building, project management, financial management, and digital transformation in governance. A special focus will be placed on leveraging digital tools, including e-governance platforms, GIS-based planning, and data-driven decision-making, while also addressing concerns related to cybersecurity and data privacy in government systems.
The program includes interactive workshops and expert-led discussions, providing participants with practical insights to address challenges in public administration. Through this initiative, IIM Shillong continues to play a vital role in strengthening leadership and promoting sustainable development in the northeastern region of India.
