Agartala, December 18, 2024: In a nationwide protest against the corruption of the central government, the All India Congress Committee has instructed the Congress party to send people’s deputations to the governors of every state and union territory. As part of this initiative, the Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee organized a Raj Bhavan Abhiyan on Wednesday, said PCC President Asish Kumar Saha.
The drive began in front of the Agartala Press Club and proceeded to the Circuit House with a procession, culminating in a meeting of the Pradesh Congress. Pradesh Congress spokesperson Prabir Chakraborty provided details about the drive during a press conference at the Pradesh Congress Bhavan.
“The decision to organize this program was taken to protest against various corruptions of the central and state governments,” Chakraborty stated.
Speaking to reporters here, Pradesh Congress President Saha highlighted the ongoing turmoil in Parliament over Adani’s financial corruption and fraud, as well as the Manipur issue. “Despite these serious issues, the Prime Minister remains silent,” Saha said. “In protest against the corruption of the central government, a public deputation will be given by the Congress party to the Governors of every state and union territory across the country.”
Saha criticized the Prime Minister for not addressing the Adani corruption scandal and the prolonged caste riots in Manipur. “The caste riots have been ongoing in Manipur for almost 18 months, yet the Prime Minister has not visited the state even once,” he remarked.
The Pradesh Congress President emphasized the need to form public opinion by informing the Governors about the Prime Minister’s lack of response to the Modi-Adani fraud and the riot situation in Manipur. “The people must unite to overcome the country’s economic disaster,” Saha urged.
Meanwhile, Congress MLA Sudip Roy Barman began his speech by acknowledging past mistakes in recognizing people, vowing not to repeat such errors. “I made a mistake in recognizing people once, so that such a mistake will not be repeated in the future,” he stated. He went on to claim that corruption has become an industry across the country.
Addressing the riot situation in Manipur, Barman criticized the central government’s inaction. “The central government is not taking a proper role in controlling the riot situation in Manipur. Even if the governance system changes and President’s rule begins, it does not seem that this fire will stop in Manipur. This is a matter of concern for every Indian,” he said.
Barman also took aim at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government’s current focus. “The BJP government has only one project, which is the Bharat Khodai project. The campaign to carve mosques is going on all over India, solely to gain votes from the 80 percent Hindus of the country,” he alleged.
Expressing his anger at the current government, Barman stated, “Corruption has become an industry all over the country today. All the BJP leaders in the state and across the country are doing politics only to earn money, but the Congress party does not believe in such politics.” He emphasized his own integrity, noting that since entering politics, he has not been involved in any corruption. “Therefore, the CBI or the Income Tax will not be able to do anything against me,” he asserted.
Barman also addressed Tiprasa, questioning their alliance with the ruling party. “How long will you remain in the forest of fools? The ruling party has kept Tiprasa with them only for the greed of getting votes. Even though the term of the letter of consent ended in September, no action has been taken by the central government for the victim Tiprasa,” he remarked.
