Guwahati, Dec 19: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced the establishment of sub-districts across the state to empower smaller administrative units, with the goal of improving public service delivery and addressing local grievances more efficiently.
In a post on X, CM Sarma explained that the sub-district initiative is part of the state government’s broader efforts to decentralize administrative functions and enhance governance. “Together with other interventions, our government is committed to ensuring good governance through our actions,” he stated.
This move coincides with the launch of #GoodGovernanceWeek2024, which focuses on people-centric government initiatives. The theme for this year, “Prashasan Gao ki Ore,” is aimed at improving service delivery in rural areas and is being commemorated in honor of the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
