In a three-day operation, a joint team comprising the Manipur Police, CRPF, Forest Department officials, and the District Administration eradicated 63 acres of illegal poppy cultivation in Kangpokpi district. The targeted areas included Langka (20 acres), Bileijang (18 acres), and Makui (25 acres).
An FIR has been registered to facilitate further investigations into the matter.
Chief Minister Nongthombam Biren Singh praised the efforts of the team on X (formerly Twitter), stating, “Great job, team! Let’s keep up the fantastic work.”
The crackdown is part of ongoing efforts to curb illegal poppy cultivation in the state, which has been a growing concern for law enforcement and environmental authorities.
