72nd NEC Plenary to Lay New Foundation for Rapid Development of North Eastern Region: Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia

Agartala, December 20, 2024: The Union Minister for Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), Jyotiraditya Scindia has emphasized that the 72nd plenary session of the North Eastern Council (NEC), scheduled to be held in Agartala tomorrow under the chairmanship of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, will lay a new foundation for the rapid development of the North Eastern Region. Speaking to the media at MBB Airport upon his arrival in Agartala on Friday evening, Minister Scindia highlighted the significance of the session in line with the development vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

“All eyes are on this session,” Scindia remarked. “The session will review the various development works of the states in this region over the past year and address the hopes and aspirations of these states. This plenary session is of immense importance to inject new energy into the pace of economic growth and development of the North Eastern Region.”

Minister Scindia underscored the crucial role that various central ministries and donor ministries will play in this development process. “The Governors and Chief Ministers of the states are eagerly waiting for this session,” he added.

In addition to the plenary session, a separate discussion session on the banking system and services has been organized for tomorrow to further strengthen the financial backbone of the North Eastern states. “This banking conclave will be held in the presence of the Union Home Minister, with participation from almost all public and private banking institutions in the country,” Scindia explained. “A detailed review will be conducted on the record number of bank branches and deposits in the banking system in the North East. There will also be discussions on initiatives and industries in the North Eastern states.”

Minister Scindia expressed his gratitude to Union Home Minister Amit Shah and the Governors and Chief Ministers of the states for their participation in the session. “This session will be very important for the future of the North Eastern Region,” he concluded.

The 72nd NEC plenary session is poised to be a pivotal event, setting the stage for accelerated development and economic growth in the North Eastern Region. The discussions and reviews conducted during the session are expected to pave the way for significant advancements in infrastructure, industry, and financial services, ultimately benefiting the people of the region.
