Guwahati, Dec 20: Assam Governor Laxman Prasad Acharya on Thursday released two books by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma – Diary (Part 3) and Collection of Speeches (Part 3) – in a ceremony held in Guwahati.
Governor Acharya commended the books as significant contributions to the state’s development, describing them as valuable resources for future generations. He expressed admiration for Sarma, recognizing him not just as a seasoned politician but also as a respected writer, and shared that the books inspired him to learn the Assamese language.
The Governor highlighted that many people perceive politicians as too busy to write, making Sarma’s Diary particularly noteworthy. He encouraged the youth to draw inspiration from the Chief Minister’s dedication to documenting his experiences despite his busy schedule. Acharya also praised Sarma’s leadership in propelling Assam forward in alignment with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of Vikas (development) and Virasat (heritage).
Speaking at the event, Chief Minister Sarma explained that both books reflect the state government’s approach to governance and development over the past year, rather than personal reflections. He emphasized that the Diary serves as an important resource for future research, documenting crucial events such as the peace agreement with pro-talk ULFA and the state’s delimitation process.
Sarma also discussed the Collection of Speeches (Part 3), which highlights the contributions of influential individuals and communities to Assam’s progress. Despite challenges like insurgency, migration, and floods, he reiterated his commitment to creating a prosperous future for Assam, focusing on the next generation.
The third volume of the Collection of Speeches compiles 70 speeches delivered by Sarma in the past year and is part of an annual publication series since he assumed office in 2021.
