Imphal, Dec 20: Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh assured on Thursday that the situation in the state, which has been affected by ethnic violence since May 2023, is “improving.” The unrest, which has seen clashes between the Meitei community in the valley and the Kuki-Zo groups in the hill districts, has resulted in significant loss of life and property.

In his statement, Singh commended the district deputy commissioners, particularly those working in the hill regions, for their dedication and effective handling of the crisis. He emphasized the importance of their role in maintaining peace and supporting displaced communities.

Since the outbreak of violence on May 3, 2023, over 250 people have been killed, and thousands have been displaced. The state government is continuing its efforts to restore normalcy and ensure the safety of all residents.

  • The Meiteis’ commitment to annihilate the Kuki-Zos remain the same, and the Need of Seperate Administration for the Kuki-Zos’ survival remain the same. Peace for Biren Singh is no better situation than the absence of Gun shot for a consecutive number of days
