Agartala, December 21, 2024: The 72nd Plenary Session of the North Eastern Council (NEC) held in Agartala served as a pivotal platform to deliberate on the development and aspirations of the northeastern region. Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh, Pema Khandu on Saturday expressed his gratitude and optimism about the future of the region in a detailed statement shared on his social media platforms.
“The North Eastern Council remains a vital platform for discussing and shaping the future of our beloved region. I was honoured to represent the people of Arunachal Pradesh at this esteemed gathering,” CM Khandu stated.
The session, attended by Union ministers, state leaders, and other stakeholders, focused on advancing development initiatives under the central government’s “double engine” governance model. Chief Minister Khandu highlighted the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, emphasizing the government’s commitment to addressing the needs of the people.
“Under the visionary leadership of PM Narendra Modi Ji, our double engine Sarkaar is determined to fulfill the aspirations of every citizen, especially our youth, women, and farmers, through the promise of Modi ki Guarantee,” he said, reaffirming the central government’s focus on inclusivity and progress.
Acknowledging the role of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Khandu expressed his appreciation for the opportunity to contribute to the discussions. “I am deeply grateful to Hon’ble Union Home Minister, Amit Shah Ji, for granting me the opportunity to address this esteemed gathering and contribute to shaping the future of our Northeast,” he remarked.
He also extended his thanks to Union Minister for Development of the North Eastern Region, Jyotiraditya Scindia, for his efforts in organizing the session. “A heartfelt thanks to Hon’ble Minister of Development of North Eastern Region, Jyotiraditya M. Scindia Ji, for his dedication and vision in making this event a success,” Khandu noted.
The Chief Minister concluded with a special mention of the host state, Tripura, for its warm hospitality. “A special note of appreciation to the Government of Tripura for their exceptional hospitality, making this session both memorable and impactful,” he added.
The NEC has been established to promote balanced and coordinated development in the northeastern states, continues to serve as a key platform for collaboration and progress in the region.
