Agartala, Dec 23: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Tripura has appointed new faces to over 90% of its ‘mandal’ committee presidencies, replacing many long-standing leaders. This move follows a decline in the party’s performance in the 2023 state elections, where its seat count dropped from 36 to 32.
On Monday, Samarendra Chandra Deb, the BJP’s returning officer for the selection process, announced the names of 60 newly appointed mandal committee presidents. The reshuffle is part of the party’s effort to rejuvenate its leadership and strengthen its organizational framework ahead of future electoral challenges.
