Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has announced plans to install 100 additional mobile towers in Puducherry to strengthen its network and improve service delivery across the region.
BSNL Chairman and Managing Director, Robert Ravi Gerard, assured that the company would not raise mobile tariffs, a decision that has already led to the addition of 20,000 new connections in the past three months. This has brought the total number of BSNL subscribers in Puducherry to 75,000.
In a recent event in Vambupattu village, Gerard also launched several new services, including free internet TV, National Wi-Fi roaming, and Fiber Internet TV. BSNL TV now offers more than 400 live channels along with free access to movies, web series, and documentaries through its OTT Play feature. Additionally, Wi-Fi connectivity has been extended to five villages in Puducherry, including Mannadipattu and Vambupattu, boosting digital accessibility in rural areas.
Currently, Puducherry has 130 BSNL towers, and with the installation of 100 more, the company aims to improve network coverage and reliability. BSNL has also introduced 4G services, with infrastructure ready for future 5G upgrades.
