Agartala, Dec 24: Senior CPI(M) leader Prakash Karat will inaugurate the party’s 24th Tripura State Conference on December 29. The three-day event, which will be held at the Town Hall in Agartala, will run until December 31.
Karat, along with CPI(M) Politburo member Brinda Karat, will attend the event and participate in a rally at Vivekananda Ground. Both Karats, along with senior party leaders, will address the rally, engaging with the public.
CPI(M) Tripura secretary Jitendra Chowdhury confirmed that the party has completed its internal conferences at branch, local, divisional, and district levels in preparation for the state conference. The party has more than 4,000 branch committees, over 300 local committees, 24 divisional committees, and eight district committees in Tripura.
The conference will focus on the state’s political, social, and economic conditions. Party leaders will address the issues facing the people and discuss their roadmap for the future. The CPI(M) ruled Tripura for 35 years in two separate terms (1978-1988 and 1993-2018) before being defeated by the BJP-IPFT coalition in the 2018 Assembly elections.
