Aizawl, Dec 30: Mizoram experienced peaceful Christmas celebrations with no major law and order concerns, according to state police reports on Sunday. Inspector General of Police (Headquarters) Lalbiakthanga Khiangte noted that while there were some minor incidents, including burglary and illegal firecracker sales, the overall crime rate remained lower than in previous years.
Between December 24 and December 29, 28 criminal cases were registered in the Aizawl region, with 22 cases related to burglary. Two individuals were arrested for selling banned firecrackers, while 47 people were apprehended for violating traffic rules. Additionally, three unnatural deaths were reported.
Khiangte praised the public for adhering to laws and government guidelines, which contributed to the peaceful atmosphere during the festivities. He also assured that heightened security measures are in place to ensure safety throughout the New Year celebrations.
