Agartala, December 31, 2024: Binoy Shankar Mishra officially assumed office as the Chief Information Commissioner of Tripura today. The swearing-in ceremony was held at Raj Bhavan, where Tripura Governor Indra Sena Reddy Nallu administered the oath of office.
Mishra’s appointment was formalized following a notification issued by Debjani Deb, Joint Secretary of the Tripura Government. The notification, based on the recommendations of a committee formed under Section 15(3) of the Right to Information Act, confirmed the appointment of Binoy Shankar Mishra, a retired Indian Forest Service (IFS) officer, to the pivotal role.
Highlighting the terms of service, the notification stated: “As per Rule 12 under Chapter-IV of the Right to Information (Terms of Office, Salaries, Allowances, and Other Terms and Conditions of Service of Chief Information Commissioner and State Information Commissioners in the State Information Commission) Rules, 2019, the term of office of the State Chief Information Commissioner shall be three years from the date on which he assumes office or until the attainment of 65 years of age, whichever is earlier.”
The ceremony marked the beginning of Mishra’s tenure in a position crucial for upholding transparency and accountability in the state’s administration.
