The indefinite economic blockade along National Highway-37 (Imphal to Jiribam), imposed by the Joint Action Committee – Jal Jeevan Mission- New Development Bank, Tousem Block, and Tamenglong Block since December 27, 2024, has been officially lifted from 6:00 PM on December 30, 2024.

The relaxation follows an agreement between Vishnu Prakash R Punglia Ltd. (VPRPL) and local facilitators, Akhon Kamei and TP Sangjiuyiung. As part of the agreement, VPRPL has committed to releasing the pending bill by January 7, 2025, without fail.

The decision to lift the blockade comes in response to public grievances, particularly with the New Year celebrations approaching. The JAC acknowledged the concerns of the general public and chose to ease the restrictions temporarily.

Despite the current agreement, the JAC has issued a strong warning. They unanimously resolved to resume a more stringent agitation if the terms of the agreement are not fulfilled by the stipulated deadline.
