Agartala, January 01, 2024: The latest report by the Association of Democratic Reforms (ADR) reveals that Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha is among the nine Chief Ministers in India with a postgraduate degree. Dr. Saha, who holds a master’s degree in dental science, is also one of only two Chief Ministers in the country with a doctorate. A reputed Maxillofacial surgeon, Dr. Saha previously taught at Tripura Medical College before transitioning to a full-time career in politics.
The report, based on affidavits submitted by Chief Ministers to the Election Commission of India (ECI), highlights Dr. Saha’s academic credentials and underscores his clean record, noting that he has no criminal cases pending against him. Dr. Saha assumed office in May 2022 and has since maintained a reputation for integrity. In contrast, 13 Chief Ministers across India have declared criminal cases against them.
In terms of financial standing, the ADR report provides details on the assets and liabilities of the country’s Chief Ministers. Andhra Pradesh’s Chandrababu Naidu, Karnataka’s Siddaramaiah, and Arunachal Pradesh’s Pema Khandu are identified as the wealthiest Chief Ministers. Naidu owns assets worth ₹931.83 crore with liabilities of ₹10 crore, while Siddaramaiah has assets totaling ₹51.93 crore and liabilities of ₹23 crore. Khandu’s assets amount to ₹332.56 crore, with liabilities of ₹180.27 crore.
Dr. Manik Saha’s financial profile is relatively modest in comparison. The Tripura Chief Minister has total assets worth ₹13.90 crore, including inherited properties and earnings from his medical career, and liabilities of ₹13.27 lakh.
