Namchi, Jan 3: A bike rally to raise awareness for the upcoming Maghey Sankranti Mela 2025 was flagged off from Jorethang Football Stadium on Friday. The rally was led by Madan Cintury, MLA of Zoom-Salghari and Chief Patron of the Maghey Sankranti Mela Committee.

The event saw the participation of key officials, including Yougan Tamang, Press Secretary to the Chief Minister, Monika Rai, SDM Jorethang, Pavitra Manav, President of NJNP, Dilip Dong, MEO, and Ben Kumar Chettri, CFO, alongside members of the Mela Sub-Committees and local residents.

Around 65 bikers from Sikkim and neighboring states participated in the rally, which passed through culturally significant locations such as Darjeeling, Kalimpong, and Melli before returning to Jorethang. The rally highlighted the cultural, historical, and religious significance of the Maghey Sankranti Mela, a festival known for its celebration of unity and community spirit.

Organized by the Maghey Sankranti Mela Committee, the rally aims to promote regional tourism and build excitement for the 2025 edition of the Mela.
