Abhinaba Banik to Represent Tripura as State Youth Icon Student-Scientist at National Youth Festival 2025

Agartala, January 06, 2025: Abhinaba Banik, a class 10 student from Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya, Vivek Nagar has been selected as Tripura’s State Youth Icon Student-Scientist to represent the state at the prestigious National Youth Festival 2025 in New Delhi. The event was organized by the Union Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports under the patronage of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, will be held on January 11-12, 2025 at the Bharat Mandapam.

The festival coincides with the 163rd birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda and aims to bring together young achievers from across the nation to foster leadership and innovation. The Directorate of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of Tripura, announced Abhinaba’s selection, with Director Satyabrata Nath extending his congratulations in an official letter to the Union Ministry. “Abhinaba’s achievements exemplify the potential of our youth. His selection as a Youth Icon is a matter of pride for Tripura,” said Nath.

Abhinaba’s journey to this recognition has been marked by outstanding achievements in science and innovation. His research on the effects of sanitizers on the human body during COVID-19, conducted under the mentorship of Dr. Tapan Majumdar at Agartala Government Medical College, gained national acclaim. He also led a team at the Indian Space Research Organization’s (ISRO) Yuvika 2024 program and excelled in individual projects at the National Remote Sensing Center, Hyderabad.

In addition to his scientific pursuits, Abhinaba was honored with the India International Sarabhai Student Scientist Award and served as a national resource person at the Ecofest of the India International Science Festival, Goa. His artistic talents are equally commendable, with his painting being displayed digitally at the Rashtrapati Bhavan Museum.

The National Youth Festival will include exhibitions, cultural programs, and a special Youth Leadership Dialogue with Prime Minister Modi. The event aligns with the Prime Minister’s vision of a “Vikashit Bharat” (Developed India) by 2047, aiming to inspire youth leaders who will shape India’s future.

Swami Shubhakarananda Maharaj, Secretary of Ramakrishna Math and Mission, Vivek Nagar expressed pride in Abhinaba’s selection. “Abhinaba embodies the ideals of Swami Vivekananda. His journey to New Delhi is a testament to his dedication and talent,” he said. Swami Budhirupananda Maharaj, Vice Principal of the school, and the teaching faculty also extended their blessings, emphasizing the school’s commitment to nurturing excellence.

Abhinaba, along with nine other youth icons from Tripura, will present their ideas and proposals for nation-building at the festival. The state delegation will depart for New Delhi on January 6, 2025, with high hopes and expectations.

This recognition highlighted the spirit of youth empowerment and highlights the transformative potential of education and innovation.
