Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma Engages With Industry Leaders In Mumbai, Invites Them To Advantage Assam 2.0 Summit

Guwahati, Jan 6: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma recently visited Mumbai, engaging in a series of meetings with prominent business leaders to promote investment opportunities in Assam. He extended invitations to key industry figures for the upcoming Advantage Assam 2.0 Summit, which is scheduled for February 2025 in Guwahati. The summit will serve as a platform to foster industrial growth and investment in the state.

During his visit, Sarma met with Tata Trusts Chairman Noel Tata and his son Neville Tata, expressing gratitude for their ongoing support in Assam’s development. He invited them to participate in the summit and explore further opportunities for collaboration.

Sarma also met Mahindra Group Chairman Anand Mahindra over lunch, where discussions centered on potential industrial partnerships aimed at boosting Assam’s economic growth. He encouraged Mahindra to attend the summit and contribute to the state’s industrial development.

The Chief Minister continued his series of meetings with L&T CEO S.N. Subramanyam, where he highlighted Assam’s expanding infrastructure sector and invited L&T to collaborate on infrastructure projects. He also extended an invitation to L&T for participation in the summit.

Further discussions took place with Welspun Group Chairman BK Goenka, where Sarma emphasized Assam’s potential in heavy industries and textiles. He encouraged Goenka to expand Welspun’s operations in Assam and invited him to the summit to explore new business opportunities.

Sarma also met with HDFC Bank CEO Sashidhar Jagdishan, focusing on Assam’s efforts to formalize its economy and banking sector. He invited HDFC to explore investment prospects in Assam through the summit.

Additionally, the Chief Minister met with Hindustan Unilever executives, including Rohit Jawa, Dev Bajpai, and Yogesh Mishra, to discuss expanding Assam’s tea industry. He urged Hindustan Unilever to increase its presence in the state and attend the summit for further business growth.

Sarma’s engagements also included meetings with Rudra Chatterjee, MD of Luxmi Tea, and Jeet Adani, Director of Adani Group, to discuss opportunities in infrastructure, power, and defense sectors. The Chief Minister assured both groups of the state’s full support for their expansion plans.

These high-level meetings underscored Assam’s growing industrial potential, with the Advantage Assam 2.0 Summit expected to play a pivotal role in attracting investment and driving the state’s economic development.
