In a significant development, Manipur’s Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Pradeep Kumar Jha announced on Monday that women now outnumber men in the state’s final electoral rolls. The updated voter list shows a total of 20,54,387 electors, with 10,61,979 women, 9,92,140 men, and 268 third-gender individuals.
During the revision period, 29,468 new electors were added, including 16,118 women, 13,348 men, and two third-gender electors. Additionally, 9,741 electors were removed from the rolls.
Imphal West has the highest number of electors, with 3,84,176 voters, followed by Imphal East (3,26,668) and Thoubal (2,06,367). Among the hill districts, Churachandpur leads with 1,85,570 electors, followed by Senapati with 1,46,666. Jiribam and Kamjong have the smallest electorates, with 31,513 and 35,813 voters, respectively.
The CEO also highlighted that of the 21,148 service electors, 20,131 are men and 1,017 are women.
