Agartala, January 07, 2025: A human skeleton was found early Tuesday morning in the dense forest of Ward No. 3, Kherengjuri under Laxminagar Gram Panchayat, Churaibari police station in North Tripura district. According to a local resident, Gunendra Nath, the grim finding was originally made on Monday afternoon by Archana Nath, who stumbled upon the skeletal remains while collecting firewood.

In her account, Archana Nath said she returned home later that evening and informed her family about the skeleton she had spotted. However, her story was not immediately taken seriously. It wasn’t until the following morning that Gunendra Nath decided to investigate. Upon reaching the forest, he found the skeletal remains on the ground, with the neck bone hanging from a tree. Additionally, shoes were found at the scene.

“I couldn’t believe my eyes. I rushed back to inform the community, and we immediately contacted the police,” said Gunendra Nath.

Responding swiftly, the Churaibari police arrived at the scene and commenced an investigation into the origins of the skeleton. One of the primary leads revolves around a local woman named Ranu Nath, who reportedly went missing on May 16, 2022. Ranu Nath, who lived with her uncle in Kherengjuri, had not been seen since that day.

“We are looking into all possible angles and verifying the identity of the remains. Our investigation is ongoing to uncover the truth behind this unsettling find,” stated an officer from Churaibari police station.

As the investigation continues, the local residents remain anxious, hoping for conclusive answers regarding the skeleton’s identity. This development also sheds light on potential unresolved cases in the region, sparking widespread concern.

The story highlights the importance of thorough investigations and the community’s role in bringing such matters to the attention of the authorities. The residents of Kherengjuri are now looking to the police to provide clarity and justice.
