Sikkim: MoS Nityanand Rai Concludes Visit, Reviews Development and Schemes In Pakyong District

Pakyong, Jan 11: Nityanand Rai, Minister of State for Home Affairs, Government of India, concluded his three-day official visit to Sikkim on January 11 with a comprehensive review of development progress and the implementation of centrally sponsored schemes in Pakyong district. The meeting, held at the Rurban Complex, was attended by district officials, who discussed ongoing projects and planned strategies for future development.

Rai expressed his gratitude to the people of Sikkim for their warm hospitality and emphasized the importance of centrally sponsored schemes in achieving the state’s development goals. He encouraged officials to focus on meeting targets while ensuring that these schemes benefit the maximum number of people. Rai also underscored the need for public awareness and participation, particularly in the efforts to combat tuberculosis.

Rai assured the district administration that he would bring Pakyong’s challenges to the attention of higher authorities for prompt resolution. During his visit, he interacted with local vendors at stalls showcasing organic vegetables and products, gaining valuable insights into the region’s agricultural practices.

District Collector Rohan Agawane provided an overview of Pakyong’s development, highlighting key achievements and ongoing projects. Updates were given on centrally sponsored schemes such as the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, Swachh Bharat Mission, MGNREGA, as well as health programs like Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana and TB Mukht GPU. Educational initiatives such as PM Poshan, NILP, and NIPUN Bharat were also discussed.

Representatives from the Horticulture and Power Departments shared updates on schemes such as the Prime Minister Krishi Sinchayee Yojana (PMKSY), PM-Kisan, PM Fasal Bima Yojana, and the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS).

The meeting was attended by Prabha Pradhan, Zilla Upadhaksya; SK Meena, DIG, ITBP; Dhan Maya Subba, SP Pakyong; along with other district officials, Panchayat representatives, progressive farmers, and SHG members.
