Agartala, January 11, 2025: Former Chief Minister and CPI(M) Politburo member Manik Sarkar launched a scathing attack on the BJP, IPFT, and TIPRA Motha, labeling them as “criminals of the state” during the Ganamukti Parishad’s six-point demand campaign held at Raj Bhavan on Saturday. Sarkar called for an organized fight to end what he described as their “dictatorial rule.”

Speaking to a gathering, Sarkar accused the BJP of betraying the people of Tripura with false promises made during the 2018 elections. “The BJP came to power in 2018 on the promise of change, pledging to address unemployment and uplift the state. But seven years later, those promises remain unfulfilled. The unemployed youth are left wandering without jobs,” he said.

Sarkar compared the BJP’s tenure with the former Left Front government, claiming that the latter prioritized providing government jobs twice a year with the assistance of the Finance Department. “The BJP government at the Center and in the state have failed miserably to address the unemployment crisis. The Prime Minister, the Home Minister, and the Assam Chief Minister made grand promises in 2018, but today, the reality is starkly different. The BJP is playing tricks with the lives of unemployed youth,” he added.

Highlighting the BJP’s unfulfilled promise of ensuring a minimum wage of ₹300, Sarkar pointed out that the current wage stands at ₹240, with an average of just 32 days of work provided annually. “This is far from the change they promised. The people of Tripura must not be misled by their hollow words again,” he urged.

Sarkar also accused TIPRA Motha of betraying the state’s non-tribal population. “In the 2023 assembly elections, TIPRA Motha fielded candidates in 42 unreserved seats, indirectly helping the BJP retain power and stopping the Left Front from forming the government,” he said.

He alleged that TIPRA Motha under former supremo Pradyot Kishore Deb Barman had turned the Autonomous District Council (ADC) into a “kingdom of loot.” “Government employees in ADC areas are not getting salaries on time, schools and colleges are facing a shortage of teachers, and the people in these regions are struggling with numerous issues. TIPRA Motha’s leadership is failing to address these problems,” Sarkar said.

Sarkar warned of a conspiracy to create discord between tribal and non-tribal communities. “The BJP, IPFT, and TIPRA Motha are complicit in dividing the people. There can be no progress without fighting this conspiracy,” he declared.

He concluded with a strong appeal to the people of Tripura: “The fight to save our state from the grip of BJP, IPFT, and TIPRA Motha is not an option but a necessity. Let us unite to restore justice and progress.”

The rally ended with resounding support for Sarkar’s call to action, as thousands pledged to continue their fight for a better Tripura.
