808 Women Reported Missing in Tripura Over Seven Months, 721 Rescued: CM Dr Manik Saha

Agartala, January 13, 2025: The Chief Minister Prof (Dr.) Manik Saha, who is also the Home minister on Monday disclosed that a total of 808 women have been registered as missing in various police stations across the state over a span of seven months. This information was provided in a written response to a query raised by Leader of the Opposition Jitendra Chaudhury during the second day of the 13th Legislative Assembly session.

Chief Minister Saha stated, “From April 1 last year to October 31, a total of 808 women were registered as missing in police stations across the state. I am pleased to inform you that out of these, 721 women have been successfully rescued as of January 8 this year.”

The Home Minister emphasized the efforts of the police force in locating and rescuing the missing women. “Our police force has been working diligently to track down and rescue these individuals. The safety and security of our citizens remain our top priority,” he added.

This disclosure has sparked discussions on the floor of the assembly, with opposition leaders calling for enhanced measures to prevent such incidents and ensure the safety of women in the state.

“The numbers are concerning, and we need to focus on preventive strategies and better support systems for women,” remarked Leader of the Opposition Jitendra Chaudhury.

The Chief Minister assured the assembly that the government is committed to addressing the issue and will continue to take all necessary steps to protect the women of the state.
