Gangtok, Jan 20: The 16th Finance Commission of India, led by Chairman Arvind Panagariya, arrived at the Tashiling Secretariat in Gangtok on Monday for important discussions with the Sikkim State Government.
Accompanied by other Commission members, including Ajay Narayan Jha, Annie George Mathew, Manoj Panda, Ritvik Pandey, KK Mishra, Kumar Vivek, Davinder Chodha, Abhishek Nandan, Promila Rajvanshi, Bhabesh Hazarika, and Arushi Gupta, the delegation was given a Guard of Honour by the Sikkim Armed Police upon arrival.
The Commission was welcomed by VB Pathak, Chief Administrator cum Cabinet Secretary, and R Telang, Chief Secretary, along with other senior state officials.
The Commission’s five-day official visit to Sikkim commenced on January 19 and will continue until January 23, 2025. During this period, the delegation is scheduled to engage with various stakeholders, including government representatives, local bodies, industry leaders, and political parties.
