The 4th Eagle Nest Bird Festival in Arunachal Pradesh marked a significant milestone with the launch of the inaugural His Holiness 14th Dalai Lama Heritage Trail trek on Sunday. Seventy trekkers embarked on a 14-kilometer journey from Chaku to Thongre, retracing the path the Dalai Lama traveled during his 1959 escape to India.
The trek was flagged off by MLA Tsetan Chombay, who also participated in the trek, underscoring his commitment to promoting eco-tourism and preserving the region’s cultural heritage.
The Dalai Lama Heritage Trail offers trekkers a chance to explore the region’s natural beauty while honoring His Holiness’s legacy and the historical significance of his journey.
In a related development, Minister Wangki Lowang laid the foundation for two key projects aimed at fostering eco-tourism in the region: the Dalai Lama Heritage Trekking Trail and the Dalai Lama Biodiversity Park at Khellong, West Kameng District. The ceremony was attended by MLA Tenzin Nyima Glow, ZPC Karma Dorjee Thongdok, and IFS Damodar, Conservator of Forests, Wildlife, and Biodiversity.
The Dalai Lama Biodiversity Park will serve as a hub for eco-tourism, highlighting the area’s diverse wildlife and promoting environmental conservation. These initiatives are expected to boost the region’s tourism potential while preserving its cultural and natural heritage.
